A how to, step by step guide to 3D animation by Cirkus Animation

By Eoghan

Here’s a great video for both Purchasers and Suppliers of 3D content.
For a purchaser, this is a useful guide to the inner workings of a 3D project from start to finish. It’s a good insight into why you can’t change content ad-hoc as a project progresses.
From a suppliers point of view this is [...]

Tender3D Suppliers Showreel

By Eoghan

I’m happy to update that we have finally put together a showreel of some of the suppliers that have signed up for Beta testing when www.tender3d.com goes live next month. We got a great reponse so unfortunately not everyone who sent in material could be included in the showreel. We wanted to keep a balance [...]

An animation dabbling in some black arts in “Alma” by Rodrigo Blaas.

By Eoghan

I came across this animation today. Starts off as another cutesy French styled animation (even though Blaas is from Spain) but finishes with a disturbing twist for our dainty protaganist. Well worth a look.

Beautiful animation by Alex Roman

By Eoghan

I stumbled across this animation by Alex Roman on motionogapher the other day and thought it was worth noting. Superlatives don’t really do it justice but sublime/ beautiful/ amazing go some way to describing a piece of 3d animation that is not only technically incredible but also composited with such grace that I found myself [...]

To someone not familiar with CGI/ 3D content then it can be hard wrapping your head around what it is and what way it can help you and your business. How outsourcing 3D can change the face of news content.

By Eoghan

The implications of this are enormous for the 3D industry at large. It means two things, deadlines and margins will become tighter but the volume of work out there is likely to explode in a world dominated by 24 hour news from an almost infinite amount of sources.

However the reality is that whatever legal protections are in place, some buyers will not take the chance on a supplier who is unknown or does not have a track record. To get the high end work, companies operating in these countries will need to build up credit in the market. When there is a lot at stake, professional buyers will not take the chance. Suppliers on the international marketplace will have to earn reputations as suppliers of excellent quality and integrity, who always deliver when they say they will.

The 3D Professional – To Advise or not to Advise, that is the question.

By Eoghan

One of the hardest things I have always found when dealing with some clients is trying to keep your creative integrity and still having a happy costumer at the end of the project. I have no problem going the extra mile to make sure something turns out great but the trick is knowing when not to take that mile long journey. Both for the clients good and for your won.

Managing Complex 3D Projects Online

So how can you plan out the scope of work (and associated budget) for creative animations that can be very subjective and unstructured prior to commencement of work? Followed a storyboarding drawing process in making a creative animation proposal to a client – along with past samples of work as render quality references should be enough to define the scope of the project adequately. Breaking the project down into manageable chunks means that the risk is minimised for both the supplier and the purchaser- there is no reason why the most complex project can’t be managed through the proper use of milestones.
